Dr. Alan Donnell

Dr. Donnell is a native Texan and a 1984 graduate of Oklahoma State University. Dr. Donnell established his own practice in Pilot Point, Texas; his practice is dedicated to the treatment and diagnosis of equine lameness and has been a thriving practice for over 25 years. His clients travel from coast to coast and Alaska and from many different countries around the world seeking his outstanding knowledge, customer service and never ending pursuit of excellence in the medical field of equine lameness. Dr. Donnell’s unparalleled skills and foresight have made him one of the most sought after veterinarians at many of the major horse shows around the world.

In 2002, Dr. Donnell served as a team veterinarian for the British Equestrian Federation Reining Team at the World Equine Games in Jerez, Spain. The team consisted of Doug Allen, Bob Mayhow, Francesca Sternberg and Rosanne Sternberg, the breeder and owner of Smart Spook.

Then in 2006 his duties were expanded to the British, Canadian and Puerto Rican Reining Team for the World Equestrian Games held in Aachen, Germany. The British Team consisted of Doug Allen, Mark How, Francesca Sternberg and Rosanne Sternberg. The Canadian Team in 2006 included Duane Latimer, Lance Griffin, Luke Gagnon and Francoise Gautier.

Dr. Donnell’s unique perspective and his visionary focus have allowed him to team up with some of the top equine lameness veterinarians and technicians in the country at Equine Sports Medicine. Their sole purpose and mission at Equine Sports Medicine is to provide the horse and the horse owner exceptionalcare. The resources and diagnostic treatments that the Equine Sports Medicine Team use to treat their clients have placed them in the top tier of excellence within their medical field.
